Pray for Haiti

Please remember to pray for Haiti. This is where our pastor and 3 other church members were supposed to be flying into on Tuesday morning, but the airlines were shut down. We are thankful for their safety, and pray for the safety and well being of all affected by hurricane Gustav.

Here are few blurbs I found in the news:

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Hurricane Gustav triggered flooding and landslides that killed at least 5 people in Haiti before weakening to a tropical storm.

Gustav's immediate threat to Haiti's 9 million people was heavy rainfall. Haiti is vulnerable to deadly mudslides and flash floods because its hillsides have been stripped of trees by residents who use the wood as cooking fuel.

Rising water threatened Haiti's crops amid protests over high food prices, and oil prices rose on fears the storm could batter oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm lingered into the night over Haiti's poor, deforested southern peninsula, and water levels were rising in banana, bean and vegetable fields. One man was killed in a landslide in the mountain town of Benet, civil protection director Marie Alta Jean-Baptiste told Radio Metropole.

Cars pushed through standing water in the streets of Port-au-Prince, as fallen trees and landslides blocked a major road out of the capital.

Please remember Haiti!

Representing America

As I sit here and watch Michael Phelps receive his 8th gold medal, I wanted to share another "boy conversation."

We were in Walmart yesterday, and were walking down the clearance aisle. We came across an American flag, that when you pressed the button played the national anthem....to which Logan replied...Moma....it is the Phelps song!!

Frustration

I think I went in a MILLION circles today trying to get registered for school! One department sends you to another...to another...to another...til you end up back where you started. ARGH...lol!
There is good news though...I only need 3 classes to be able to get into the teaching program. I also found out that there is a new legislative grant that gives teaching students over $900 for school. Yipee!!
Then the bad news...I can't get all 3 classes online as of right now because they are all full! So...I am hoping to get in on Monday when they do the final purge for non-paying students. If I can't get in all internet classes I have to come up with plan B because I don't think they will give Logan college credits just yet...lol. I hate to put him in daycare, especially for what would be 4 hours a day on Tuesday and Thursday.
Either way...I am hopefully on my way to my teaching degree!

Recipes

I don't know about anyone else, but we have had a time with ants this year. They have been terrible!! Needless to say, we have had lots of bug/ant spray around here. What does this have to do with a recipe you ask? Yet another boy conversation follows...

Jacob: Moma, I know how to make bug spray.

Me: You do?

Jacob: Yeah. You catch a poisonous snake and chop him up into pieces so small you can't see him anymore. Then you put him in a can and add some water to it. Then you have bug spray. The poisonous snake kills the bugs and ants.

Makes sense to me!

My Life is a Zoo

Hatched

Spongebob was at the Zoo entrance to welcome us in.

Logan asked me if he could play with the "robot."

Jacob said, "Moma, look at the Mickey Mouse plant!"

This is what I was at the end of the day!

Boy Conversations

Jacob: Logan, you look like Patrick. (From Spongebob)
Logan: I don't look like Patrick, I look Like Logan.
Jacob: You do look like Patrick!
Logan: I DO NOT look like Patrick....I have a BIG head!

Jacob: (After watching a commerical) Moma, I CAN make a mess! You wanna know why?
Me: Sure, Jacob, why?
Jacob: Because Clorox cleans up messes...thats why!

I think he forgets who has to use the clorox to clean up the mess!
